Govt Revises Anti- Monopoly Law to Benefit Entrepreneurs

House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI has conducted a series of important changes related to the revision of Law No. 5/1999 concerning Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition. The government now allows vertical integration, which is business integration from upstream to downstream.

The other changes are related to fines. The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) previously imposed a maximum fine of Rp 25 billion if there was a monopoly. This has now been changed to a maximum of 25 percent of the company’s total sales.
